Bob & Edna Meadows Regional Cancer Care Center
Shales McNutt Construction was contracted for Construction Management services on this 25,750 square foot addition to Provena/St. Joseph Hospital in Elgin, IL. SMC is pleased to be part of the construction of this new state of the art Cancer Care Facility which will provide technologically advanced cancer treatment services to its patients. The Bob and Edna Meadows Regional Cancer Care Center broke ground during the fall of 2007. To date all site utilities, foundations and retaining walls have been completed. Structural steel was erected through the winter, the existing building has been demolished at the new building tie-in points and the deck has been poured. Distinctive to this project, two linear accelerator vaults are being framed and poured, consisting of concrete wall thickness from 3 to 6 feet with a concrete roof ranging in thickness from 4 1/2 feet to over 7 feet thick. According to Vice President Steve Hendrickson, these vaults are unique due to the mass of concrete. This exceptional project is expected to be complete in the fall of 2008.
